Marketing sites, customer portals, dashboards, marketplaces and native apps, built by one team — for the day there are ten thousand rows in the table and one bar of signal, rather than for the day of the demo.
What it is
Web and mobile are one practice here because the products are. A marketplace has a host dashboard and a traveller's phone against the same booking core. A security company has a supervisor console and a guard's handset against the same shift record. Splitting those across two teams is how the API and the interface end up disagreeing about the shape of a thing, and how the seam between them becomes nobody's job.
What both halves share is that the interface is only half the work. The half that decides whether the thing is usable is what happens behind it when the data is real — and, on a phone, what happens when the connection is not. A page that renders in fifty milliseconds against seed data can take eleven seconds against a year of production records, and an app that needs connectivity to do the one thing it exists for fails at exactly the moment it was needed.

- Apps that work with no signal at all and reconcile the moment connectivity returns, rather than blocking on a request that will not complete. Built around the place the app is opened — a field, a queue, a van — not the place it was written.
- Device capabilities used properly
- Camera capture, timestamped check-ins, live location, barcode scanning and geolocation, wired into the workflow rather than bolted on as a settings screen.

- Event-driven synchronisation with external partners over a message queue, so records stay in agreement with the other platforms your business already lives on.
